This training program explores legal, policy and ethical issues facing online businesses from a national and international perspective. It exposes participants to most recent case law from European and other international courts, while providing state-of-the-art understanding of the legal aspects of internet technology and recent intermediary liability trends online. Special emphasis is given to the European Digital Single Market (DSM) reform package. In this course, participants learn about novel issues of Internet jurisdiction and innovation regulation.
The course will discuss legal framework, case law and enforcement strategies dealing with intermediate liability for copyright, trademark, and privacy infringement, including a broader overview of data protection obligations emerging under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The training provides key notions regarding patentability, protection and business strategies related to web-based and mobile technology.
